Dear Friends,

This week with Slack at Woodlawn takes us to Italy with three of our favorite grapes from three distinctly different regions: Sangiovese from Tuscany, Montepulciano from the eponymous region, and Inzolia from Sicily. Sangiovese is the most common grape in Italy used alone or in blends; a lighter red, fruity, with an easy, non-complicated finish. Montepulciano is a medium-bodied red with soft tannins, high acidity, and fruit flavors of wild cherry, blackberry, boysenberry, and plum. And Inzolia grapes produce the classic white wine from Sicily and western Italy with characteristics of freshness, nuttiness and vanilla.

Back to the US and our little piece of heaven at Woodlawn. Come Sunday for a Spanish day of wines. As usual the bubbly is on us first and the tasting ($15) can be paired with boards where the cheeses are selected for the wines ($30).
