Slackscapes

Our sense of a place always starts on the outside: the woodlands that frame the backdrop, the gardens with pathways and decks or exterior rooms that offer a sense of the activities that spill from the inside out, the entrance and lighting and arrival that often starts from a different place than those who enter and exit often.

And so our Slackscape concepts work from the outside in, taking in to account context and contents and working from there to tell a story. That, after all, is what most of us are after when we think of design — fit the design to our story, our lives, our activities. Make that story reflect and inspire us daily, with an earnestness and purposefulness that feels authentic.

We call our process Slackscape

and it begins with landscaping the surroundings, the trees and gardens that shape the places we call home. That is where we start, on the outside.

It’s a relatively British concept, we admit, making so much of the gardens and the surroundings, as the British beat us five fold in their interest in gardens and woodlands and their time spent gardening and walking and so much less time in their cars. But in this time of regrouping ourselves in to new habits and ways in our homes and our own grounds, Slackscape offers a process to bring you a bit of the English style, specifically the English Countryside. Trees trimmed to enjoy woodland views, gardens accented with flowering shrubs and plants, accent pots with plants for show and, during the colder months, enrichment for the inside, too. We will help you think of your gardens and your home through the seasons, and plan accordingly with your designs.

And then we bring it inside from there, with English wallpapers

that remind you of garden florals year round. This habit is quintessentially English, and it’s so simple to accomplish with wallpapers like these from Anna French.
